We know the importance of health, and further, if we have a healthy body in order to keep healthy. The diseases are good for nothing ... limited physical and mental capacity, undermine the economy and can disrupt the goals we set.
So please take care of your body, your health. We must learn to control the mind to remove the bad habits that harm us and inform us so that ignorance does not affect us and cause disease.
Do not do things that harm our body. Saying "something we have to die" is the stupidest thing anyone can say. It is better to be healthy in order to realize all the goals we have in our lives. Our mission in life is to be productive and do not waste that opportunity.
Probiotics used to treat patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Recently we hear more often especially on TV during commercials, about the benefits of probiotics.
Nevertheless, researchers have not performed yet any conclusive studies and come up with some clear conclusions about the benefits of probiotics.
Probiotics are living organisms which offered in certain amounts provide benefits to the organism. As researchers like to call them, they are "good germs".
The most famous probiotics found in the products on the market are Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, which are both lactic acid bacteria.
Researchers have not been able so far to find a specific link between the use of these two probiotics and some specific results for treatment for patients suffering from IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease).
According to this study, researchers managed to find an explanation for this issue: an increase in the level of iron which occurs in patients with IBD undermines the growth of the probiotic, which basically leads to a cancelation of the benefits offered by the bacteria.
Typically, iron determines the growth of bacteria. In the case of pathogens, for example, a growth for up to 8000 times more is possible when exposed to a sufficient level of iron. Nevertheless, the species of bacteria lactic, such as Lactobacillus have not evolved to require iron and so instead of helping them increase their growth rate, iron inhibits them from growing which leads to the lack of results.
The conclusions of this research are very important because it helped researchers identify the species of lactic acid bacteria that do not respond to increased levels of iron and furthermore, they managed to identify a strain, which was later patented, that has immunomodulatory properties. This strain can help probiotics bacteria to grow even in case of patients suffering from IBD.
Researchers believe that this strain could be the answer they were looking for in the development of a cure for patients suffering from IBD.
The study was conducted by scientists from the University of Bristol, more explicit the School of Veterinary Sciences and the School of Clinical Medicines and will be published in the journal "PLoS ONE".
