Remain Anonymous If you don't want others using the CoolTalk Server to locate you, choose Off in the Make
Me Available through Server box. If you don't do this, your name and Internet address show up when other users
are connected to the same IS411 Server as you.
Quick Calls To add someone to your Speed Dial bar, select their name in the Address Book or CoolTalk's IS411 list
and click on the Add to Speed Dial button.
By Invitation Only Set CoolTalk to automatically accept all invitations to talk or refuse all invitations; or keep
the option to accept or decline each invite individually. To do so, select the appropriate Accept Invitation option
on the Conference tab in the Options menu.
Be Outgoing Personalize your outgoing message by recording a new one for your CoolTalk answering machine in the
Greeting area under the Answering Machine tab in the Options menu; or if you have a file stored on disk that you
want as your outgoing message, select it instead by searching for the path of the file using the Browse folders
tool.
Stop the Echo, Echo, Echo Eliminate microphone echo by making sure when a conference member is speaking the audio
level is above the white marks shown on the audio grid on your screen. You control the grid from your display.
Show Your Face Use the Business Card Editor to add a photograph to your profile so chat participants can see
who they're talking to. Go to Conference, select Options, then choose the Business Card tab.

Restart Without Rebooting
|
|
After switching over from windows 3.1 how annoying it was to reboot. As much as I hated to restart in windows
3.1 the process was like lightning compared to Windows 95. Now we have to restart the whole system instead of just
windows. That was until I learned the following trick: If you want to restart Windows 95 without rebooting the
computer, all you have to do is click Shut Down in the Start Menu, select the Restart Windows 95 radio button in
the dialog, then hold down the Shift key as you click OK. Windows restarts as if a program instead of performing
the default warm boot had restarted it.

Ever have trouble finding your favorite program in the start menu? By default, all files, programs, and folders
are in alphabetical order (with folders on top) This can become quite annoying, and You don't have to do it this
way. You can change the order by renaming the shortcuts. For example:
You can organize it so that the most frequently used files are together at the top of a list, or at the bottom.

| Desktop Icons in the Start Menu |
Febuary 1st, 1998

|
Here is a way I discovered to access your Desktop icons when you have a program maximized, and for some reason
you can't minimize it. (Setup or a legacy 3.1 app that is busy) Sure you could press Ctrl-Esc, or the Windows95
key, to bring up the start menu, but how to get to Desktop icons? Create a shortcut called "My Desktop",
which runs the command: explorer.exe /root, (the comma at the end is very important!) Now add this shortcut to
your Start menu somewhere handy. Now you can get to your desktop icons easily.
